Again there will be a hearing on H484 at the Environmental Committee, tomorrow (#555 LOB at 10 AM).

This is the second most important NC energy bill on the legislative schedule, so your URGENT help is needed.

H484 sounds good, but it is essentially worthless. Consider:

1 - This bill was written to protect NC military installations from industrial wind -- which is fine.

-- However there is an exclusion in the bill that would have exempted all NC wind energy developments to date! What good is it to have rules, and then give an almost 100% exemption???

2 - This bill's secondary objective is to protect NC environment from industrial wind -- which also sounds good.

-- However the "bird and bat studies" the bill requires, will be done by the applicant! What good is a requirement asking for a self-serving, biased document written by a paid shill???

3 - There is not a single provision in H484 that provides any meaningful protection for NC citizens!

-- H484 is totally inadequate regarding safeguarding NC citizens from health, safety and economic impacts of nearby industrial wind development.

The bottom line is that H484 does not protect
    the MILITARY,
    the ENVIRONMENT, or
    the PUBLIC.

Please see my official (updated) Comments re H484, where I've spelled out what needs to be fixed. This bill could be redrafted in a day or two, and really do some genuine good.

Please call at least two more Republicans on this committee (see below), and ask that they vote against this inadequate bill as written.

Ask them to speak for NC citizens, and the environment, and the military, by voting to have H484 edited and resubmitted.

If you can attend that committee meeting and speak to that point, that would be great.

    Let me know any questions.

Thank you for helping make H484 a much better bill. Please pass this on to other interested NC citizens.
