War on History: Biden goes after Revolutionary War hero general | Eastern NC Now

Revolutionary War generals join Confederate generals as subject of attack

ENCNow

The far left's War on History, a form of Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution, started with attacking Confederate generals, but as President Trump has long pointed out, that was only the beginning and many of America's heroes are under threat of being cancelled by the wokesters.  The leftwing Biden regime is in the thick of it.

The latest target is Revolutionary War General "Mad Anthony" Wayne, one of  George Washington's top division commanders.  Many years ago a major National Forest in Ohio was named in honor of General Wayne.  Now the Biden regime has greenlighted changing its name to "Buckeye National Forest".

Wayne's alleged transgressions?  First, he led a campaign that effectively defeated an Indian insurrection in Ohio and Indiana after the Revolutionary War, and some modern day Indians are miffed about that.  Second, after he retired to Georgia, he owned a plantation and about 50 slaves.  For that, the far left is determined to throw the contributions of this skilled general to America's War of Independence into the dustbin of history.

This is cancel culture run amuck.  What needs to be cancelled is cancel culture itself and all of those despicable thugs who support it.

Meanwhile in Colorado, school officials are also trying to cancel Revolutionary War related items.  The Gasden flag, with its motto "Don't Tread on Me" carried by Revolutionary War soldiers was banned, with a student with a parch showing that flag on his backpack removed from class.  The boy's mother has lawyered up to take these cancel culture dolts who claimed the flag had "origins in slavery" to court.

Attacking history is what totalitarians do. George Orwell wrote of this in his novel of a dystopian totalitarian society "1984":

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day be day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except the endless present in which the party is always right."
