Free speech wins over "hate speech" laws in Finnish court | Eastern North Carolina Now

Member of parliament charged for tweeting Bible verses on marriage and gender

ENCNow

Free speech triumphed over a "hate speech" law in Finland as the Helsinki Court of Appeals unanimously dismissed the three "hate speech" charges brought against Finnish member of parliament and former Minister of the Interior Paivi Rasanen for tweeting Bible verses related to marriage and gender.  The charges had previously been dismissed by the trial court, and the prosecution appealed.  Rasanen has served in parliament for almost 30 years.

When she was arrested, Rasanen was subjected to 13 hours of police interrogation. The Appeals court ordered the government to reimburse her for her defense costs.

Free speech is under serious attack in Europe.  In France, two feminist leaders have criminal charges pending for "hate speech" for posting that allowing biological men into some womens spaces created a danger to women.  The left would like to do the same here in America, and it is only our First Amendment that is stopping them so far.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is the totalitarian group pushing this poisonous agenda in the United States, yet there was not a peep out of them about all the hate that has been coming out of the left and the Muslims against Jews and Israel.

The First Amendment is under just as much attack by the left and far left as the Second Amendment is.
