    Mr. Fenner Graham Jordan, Jr. passed away on May 11, 2013, after a full life with family, friends and enjoyable work.

    Mr. Jordan was born in Beaufort County, NC, on March 8, 1927 to Fenner Graham Jordan, Sr. and Ethel Boyd Jordan. His childhood years were spent on the family farm near Pinetown, NC. He then lived the majority of his life in Plymouth, NC, with periods of time in Richmond, VA, Sanford, FL, and Raleigh, NC. He was educated in the Beaufort County Schools and attended East Carolina University.

    His parents, his sister, Dorothy Jordan Waters and his dear wife of 60 years, Janice Herring Jordan, preceded him in death. Also preceding him were in-laws Dorothy Herring Grimsley; J. C., Laddie Pal, and David Herring; Mattie Herring Palmer and a daughter-in-law, Ann Gilliam Jordan. Survivors include, daughter, Deborah Jordan Matthews and husband, Dr. Ben Matthews of Raleigh, son, F. Graham Jordan, III and wife, Lynn of Raleigh and son, John Joseph Jordan of Raleigh. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jordan Matthews and wife, Andrea of Richmond, VA, Sarah Jordan and fiancé, Michael Lecourt of Raleigh, and Charles Jordan of Raleigh, in-laws Hilda and James Byrd of Wilmington, LaVaughn Simmons of Albemarle, Sandra and Milton Horne of Cumberland, Carolyn and Johnny Hall of New London; Terry Herring of Milton, FL, Thelma Herring of Conway, SC, and Acenath Herring of Greer, SC; and many nieces and nephews.

    During his life, Mr. Jordan worked with the Allis Chalmers Corporation in his early years and partnered and managed a farm machinery business in Plymouth for the majority of his life. In later years he worked with the Washington County School System and Rhone-Poulenc Corporation, where he received the Orchidee award as part of the Florida Citrus Management Team.

    Mr. Jordan enjoyed helping others and was active in the Jaycees, and awarded their coveted Distinguished Service Award. He served on the Plymouth Town Council and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce for a number of years and thoroughly enjoyed helping to confront challenges and find solutions. Dad will be remembered as a reliable friend and with professional respect by all who knew him.

    The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Sidana and staff of Falls River Assisted Living for their unfailing kindness, respect, and affectionate care during his final days. The family also extends thanks to Hospice of Wake County for their gracious support.

    The funeral service will be held at Paul Funeral Home, Washington, NC, on Thursday, May 16, at 11:00 AM with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. A reception honoring Mr. Jordan's life will follow the interment. Flowers are welcome and donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27604.
