Rep. Jon Hardister NC Labor Commissioner | Eastern NC Now

It's Official - I Am Running For NC Labor Commissioner

ENCNow
Press Release:

Last week I went to the NC State Board of Elections and officially filed to seek the office of NC Labor Commissioner. It has been an honor to serve in the NC House over the last decade, and I am excited about the opportunity to serve our state in a new capacity.

During my time in the legislature, I have worked to lower taxes, reform the tax code, balance our budget, and promote workforce development. I am proud of the work we have done to make North Carolina the best state for business, and I will bring that same mindset to the Department of Labor.

In addition to more than a decade of public service, I have over 20 years of experience in the private sector. This has taught me the importance of hard work, accountability, and meeting the bottom line. These are important attributes that I will put to use as your Labor Commissioner.

It has been a pleasure to travel this state over the last 11 months on the campaign trail. I have enjoyed meeting with voters, listening to their concerns, and discussing our vision for the Department of Labor. The best part of a campaign is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and learn what is important to them.

As Labor Commissioner, I will work to expand our workforce, ensure timely and fair inspections, enhance workplace safety, and prevent overreach from the federal government. We will ensure that our department is operating efficiently and that the needs of workers and businesses are being met.
