Claudine Gay may have been forced to resign her post as President of Harvard University on Tuesday, but she may still rake in a massive six-figure salary of nearly $900,000 from the Ivy League school.

Gay announced her resignation Tuesday amid allegations of plagiarism in her published academic works - and closely following her disastrous Capitol Hill testimony addressing rampant anti-semitism on campuses such as hers. But according to a report published that same day by the New York Post, she may simply return to her previous positions as a professor or as dean of the faculty of arts and sciences.

According to the report, Gay reported income of $824,068 in 2020 and $879,079 in 2021, and she may have broken into seven figures if she had been able to hold onto her position as university president - her predecessor, Lawrence S. Bacow, pulled in a salary of $1.3 million in 2021.

The now-ousted president had only held the position since July, making her tenure in the position the shortest in history.

In her resignation letter, Gay made no mention of her actions that could have inspired the accusations against her - examples of plagiarism that spanned sections of more than half of her academic published works. She also failed to address the continued criticism of remarks she made on Capitol Hill, in which she suggested "context" was needed to determine whether or not calls for Jewish genocide violated Harvard's rules regarding bullying and harassment.

Instead, she painted herself as a victim of racially-charged attacks that were being employed by her critics in an effort to make her look bad.

"It has been distressing to have doubts cast on my commitments to confronting hate and upholding scholarly rigor - two bedrock values that are fundamental to who I am - and frightening to be subjected to personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus," she said.
