Timothy Wayne Powell, age 56, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at First Church of Christ in Washington and will be officiated by Ray West.

Timmy was born in Portsmouth, VA on October 19, 1967 to the late James Emmett Powell, Sr. and Bonnie Sue Creech Powell. On October 7, 2023 he married his wife, Tina Bass. He was a member of First Church of Christ in Washington.

Timmy's career began in Norfolk, VA in 1986 as a technician with AT&T. His next adventure would bring him to NC where he worked on the family farm. A salesman at heart, Timmy excelled as a Realtor, salesman with Precision Pallet, and most recently as an insurance agent with Globe Life.

A friend to many, Timmy was encouraging to everyone who crossed his path. His daily text of scripture touched many hearts and affected more people than he would ever know. He was someone who truly never met a stranger and loved to share stories with those he encountered. Timmy loved to laugh and enjoyed helping others however he could.

Timmy's love of the outdoors was cultivated from a young age by hunting and fishing with his dad and many family camping trips. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, sailing, planting flowers and the rewarding feeling of a finely manicured yard. He also loved playing tennis, good conversations, and appreciating God's creation painted with a beautiful sunset.

Timmy's greatest love was his family. Always a smile on his face and beaming with pride when he spoke of his daughters, Casey and Mollie, and their husbands, Trey and Kynon, who he loved like sons. His grandson, Jack, stole his heart and "Pop Pop" immediately became Timmy's favorite title. Timmy and his wife, Tina, were building a life together that they both loved. They supported each other through the best and hardest of times.

Timmy is survived by his wife, Tina, two daughters, Casey Sadler and husband Trey of Beaufort, and Mollie Walker and husband Kynon of Beaufort, a grandchild Jack Sadler, and step grandchildren Sabrea, Cameron and Gunner. He was also eagerly awaiting the birth of his newest grandchild, Luke Timothy Sadler.

He is also survived by his mother, Bonnie, and siblings: Jimmy Powell and wife Becky of Greenville, Kenny Powell and wife Joy of Belhaven, and Kim Fletcher of Washington, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Emmett Powell.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Powell family.
