Drug Bust: Oxycodone, Marijuana | Eastern NC Now

On July 11, 2013, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested William Logan Whichard, age 20, of 3028 Whichards Beach Rd. in Chocowinity and Danielle Alex Baker, age 20, of 1977 Hwy 102 in Chocowinity.

    On July 11, 2013, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested William Logan Whichard, age 20, of 3028 Whichards Beach Rd. in Chocowinity and Danielle Alex Baker, age 20, of 1977 Hwy 102 in Chocowinity.

    Their arrests stemmed from Investigators conducting a controlled purchase of Oxycodone (Schedule II Controlled Substance) from the pair earlier this month. Investigators witnessed Baker and Whichard parked in the Lowes parking lot in Washington in the same vehicle used in the controlled purchase. Investigators conducted surveillance of the vehicle and witnessed Whichard and Baker preparing to use a controlled substance. Investigators also observed a small child in the backseat of the vehicle. Investigators conducted an approach on the vehicle and witnessed pills in the laps of both Baker and Whichard. Both were taken into custody and a thorough search of the vehicle was conducted. As a result of the search 66 dosage units of Oxycodone, marijuana and syringes were seized. The syringes were located in the backseat of the vehicle next to the child’s car seat. The Department of Social Services has been notified of the investigation and the child was placed in the custody of a family member.

    William Whichard was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Opiates by Possession, Trafficking in Opiates by Transportation, Conspiracy to Traffic in Opiates and Conspiracy to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance. Danielle Baker was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Opiates by Possession, Trafficking in Opiates by Transportation, Conspiracy to Traffic in Opiates, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance. Baker was also charged with a Probation Violation by the Department of Community of Corrections as she was in violation of her probation status.

    Whichard was confined under a $27,500 secured bond and Baker was confined under a $40,000 secured bond.

On April 17, 2026 Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff Office received information that 37-year-old Clinton Alexander Daniel of Chocowinity NC had strangled his 4-year-old son.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
On April 25, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaleza Aneice Alexander on multiple drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple vehicle break-ins between December 6 th and December 9 th in the areas of Turkey Trot Rd., South Asbury Church Rd. and Magnolia School Rd. in Washington.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from concerned parents regarding a past incident that occurred at Bath Elementary School. I would like to assure the public that there is no current threat of school violence.
On Saturday, October 11th, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 739 Cherry Rd, Washington NC for a 911 call reporting a male subject being shot.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025 at approximately 1900 hours, Washington Police Department units were dispatched to the 600 block of West 9th Street in reference to a possible shooting in progress.
