Gallup poll finds 7 point sentiment shift of voters in favor of Republicans in a month | Eastern NC Now

Voter sentiment has shifted significantly in favor of Republicans in the last month according to polling by Gallup.  This shift has come just as early voting is starting.  Gallup polling the same questions in September.

Asked if they considered themselves as Republicans, Democrats, or Independents, or leaned to those groups, the results were:

Republican   31% (up 4 from September); Democrat 28% (down 3 from Sept.) and Independent 41% (down 1 from September).

When self-identified Independents were asked which way they lean, the result was:

Republican 49%, Democrat 42%
