Gallup poll shows support for gun control cratering | Eastern NC Now

The latest Gallup poll shows support for gun control among the American people cratering.  Only 20% of Americans now favor banning handguns, a major drop from recent years, and one of the lowest levels in 65 years.  Only 33% of Democrats favor banning handguns, although since they are the Democrat base that votes in primariies they trap Democrat politicians in such positions.

The only place there is even a slight majority for banning weapons is what the left falsely terms "assault rifles" where those favoring a ban have dropped 11 points to 51%.  This is largely due to the mischaracterization of semi-automatic rifles by the sinister sounding term "assault rifle".  No army in the world uses a semi-automatic any more than they use a flint lock musket.  Military rifles today are fully automatic.
