Georgia Jackson Torres, age 76, a resident of Washington, NC, peacefully passed away on Saturday February 8, 2025 at ECU Beaufort Hospital.

    Georgia Jackson Torres, age 76, a resident of Washington, NC, peacefully passed away on Saturday February 8, 2025 at ECU Beaufort Hospital.

    The funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM Friday February 14, 2025 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home of Washington. The graveside ceremony will be held immediately following the service at the Jackson Cemetery on Cherry Road in Washington. The family invites visitors following the grave services at the Jackson family home.

    The family will receive friends and family for visitation from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday February 13, 2025 at Paul Funeral Home.

    Georgia was born in Beaufort County on January 31st, 1949 of Godly parents Wilmer Harris Jackson and Margaret Louise Cox Jackson of Washington. She spent most of her life in Beaufort County being known for her kind heart and willingness to help others. Early in her life she was blessed to become a mother and eventually a grandmother and even a great grandmother. She was the center of celebration and laughter, but her biggest love of all was being "Gran Gran," playing and making her grandkids happy.

    She was well known throughout the community from her career working at the Walmart in Washington, taking pride organizing sponsorships and fundraisers which fulfilled many needs. People also knew her during her time with the Washington City School System, driving buses for many years and for the Washington Pam Pack Band. During her free time she enjoyed being active playing on the Women's Summer Softball League making new friendships.

    As a single mother she was able to accomplish various achievements in her professional life a few include her cosmetology license, a degree becoming a registered dietician nutritionist, and her certification as an EMT. Even with all of this she would say the greatest gift was her relationship with God and her Savior Jesus Christ.

    Survivors include two daughters, Angela "Camie" Torres Smith of Washington, Lisa Torres Hartley (Garrick Hartley) of Greenville, three sons, Antonio "Tony" Torres of Washington, Donald "Donny" Jackson of Myrtle Beach, SC and Bobby Cooper of Washington. Grandchildren include Samantha Hawkins Rowe (Jonathan Rowe), Forrest Hawkins, John Leggett Jr., Garrick Hartley II, Mariah Jackson, Logan Jackson, Lia Jackson, Tonio Torres, Angelisa Torres, Nicholas Torres, Kyra Torres and several great grandchildren. Siblings include Danny Jackson (Ora Jackson) of New Bern and Mitchell Jackson (Norma Jackson) of Pamlico County.
