Reform Party says climate policies leading to de-industrialization of Britain

The UK's upstart Reform Party, led by Brexit hero Nigel Farage, is increasingly targeting Labour's "Net Zero" CO2 policies in its political message.  Multiple recent polls have shown an explosion of support for the Reform Party, which has rocketed to become the UK's most popular political party among voters.  The latest poll, out today puts Reform at 29%, Labour at 23%, and Conservatives at 21%,  with Scottish Nationalists, Welsh Nationalists, Liberal Democrats, Greens, and assorted Northern Ireland parties getting the balance.

Party leader Farage, who is MP for Clacton, declared at a press conference that "we view the Net Zero targets as the prime reason for the de-industrialization of Britain."  Farage announced that Reform would target wind and solar energy companies with a new tax, the proceeds of which would be distributed to electric ratepayers whose electric bills are going through the roof due to "green energy". Farage is a longtime advocate of nuclear energy as well as supporting development of the UK's oil and gas reserves, including allowing fracking.

While the Reform Party has always been sceptical of green energy and Net Zero which is deputy leader has long dubbed "Net Stupid", it is now doubling down on this issue in its messaging.   This also separatves Reform from its rivals on the right, the Conservative Party, which although much less ectreme on the issue, has paid at least lip service to the Net Zero concept.

Opposition to "green energy" proved extremely popular with voters in the last provincial election in the Canadian province of Ontario, Canada's largest.  Newly minted Conservative Party leader Doug Ford zeroed in on unpopular and expennsive green energy as the main message in his campaign.  The result was the biggest landslide election flip in Canada's history, flipping a 2 to 1 Liberal over Conservative majority to a 10 to 1 Conservative over Liberal majority.  As premier of Ontario, Ford's first move was to cancel all wind and solar permit applications then in the pipeline, followed by repeal of the Green Energy Act itself.  His govenrment also restored local government authority to block wind and solar projects, cancelled wind and solar projects already under construction with the savings from not having to pay for subsidies more than covering the contractual penalties, and helped local victims obtain the evidence to have four wind energy companies criminally indicted for multiple felonies of polluting the groundwater.
