Berger is facing party disloyalty charges
Phil Berger of Rockingham County is an arrogant and liberal dictator in the State Senate, but the folks at home look like they will have a strong candidate in 2026 to get him out of their senate seat. As senate boss, Berger, who is nominally a Republican, has continuously pushed the major liberal agenda items of former Governor Roy Cooper through the legialture, like allowing biological men into womens restrooms, passing NC's Green New Deal, passing the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, and embracing an Obamacare state marketplace. Berger has been an enemy of gun rights, blocking the Constitutional Carrry bill last year.
Now, Rockingham County's highly popular longtime Sheriff Sam Page has signalled he is ready to challenge Berger in the 2026 primary. Page got into politics as a Tea Party guy and has a staunch conservative record on issues. He has been continuously outspoken on fighting illegal immigration for many years and last year was a major leader in the campaign against the casino Berger wanted to build in Rockingham County.. Page had considered dropping his bid for Lieutenant Governor in 2024 to challenge Berger but ultimately remained in the statewide race.

This comes as Berger is under fire for his dalliance with Democrats. Formal charges of party disloyalty have been brought against Berger by unanimous vote of the Duplin County GOP executive committee over Berger's open endorsement of a liberal Democrat Superior Court judge over a conservative Republican challenger. When Berger's liberal Democrats incumbent lost that election, Berger pushed through a bill making him a Special Superior Court Judge.
That charge of party disloyalty against Berger will now have to be voted on by the state Republican Executive Committee, which can ban Berger from all party activities for up to five years.

Wow, I heard Berger was awful but I didn’t know the half of it since reading this forum and learning of his party disloyalty. Glad to know counties are coming together on the effort to get him out of our NCGOP leadership. It sounds like he had no business there in the first place!

Liberal Phil Berger is the reason ladies may find a man in their locker room at Fort Macon State Park beach. Berger led the effort to repeal the bathroom and locker room privacy law known as HB2. He was knuckling under to Roy Cooper's demands and seriously betrayed the women and girls of North Carolina when he did it. North Carolina needs to flush Phil Berger once and for all.

I don't know if Berger was trying to get a date with Greta Thunberg at the time or just trying to kiss Roy Cooper's ass, but the jerkwad Berger declared war on NC electric ratepayers when he did that. Berger's NC Green New Deal is more radical than even the EU's Green Deal. We need to fight back by doing everything possible to get Phil Berger's rotten and corrupt ass OUT of NC politics for good.
