Party Disloyalty complaint filed against Sen. Phil Berger by Duplin County GOP | Eastern NC Now

could kick Berger out of party events for five years

ENCNow

A formal complaint charging GOP State Senate leader Phil Berger (RINO-Rockingham) with party disloyalty has been filed with the North Carolina Republican Party.  Under the party's rules, this must be submitted to the state Republican Executive Committee for adjudication.  Penalties can include being barred from party affairs for up to five years.

This is the same procedure used against former GOP NC House Co-speaker Richard Morgan (RINO-Moore).  The state GOP executive committee ruled that Morgan had committed party disloyalty and barred him from party affairs for five years.

The complaint revolves around Berger's public endorsement of a liberal Democrat Superior Court Judge in the 2022 election against a conservative Republican.  The Republican ultimately won the race in spite of Berger's endorsement of the Democrat.  The complaint was initiated by unanimous resolution of the Duplin County Republican Party.

Endorsing a candidate of another party running in a general election against a Republican nominee is clearly defined in the Republican Party Plan of Organization as party disloyalty.  This would seem to be an open and shut case against Berger.

As Senate leader, Berger's loyalties have come into question after he spearheaded passage of a whole string of Roy Cooper's liberal legislative priorities like the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, state Obamacare exchanges, the Green New Deal, and letting boys and men into restrooms and locker rooms of women and girls.  He is being called a RINO (Republican in Name Only), a DID (Democrat in Disguise) or an Undocumented Democrat.

When you see the way partisan liberal judges are misusing their office for political purposes against President Trump, ANY so-called Republican who would endorse a liberal Democrat judge is highly suspect. Berger showed his liberalism when he rammed through a bill on behalf of Roy Cooper and the homosexual activists to repeal HB2, the law that had kept biological men out of womeens and girls restrooms and locker rooms. I have had absolutely no use for Phil Berger since. I wish he would just go away.

It's. About. Time. What on earth took so long??? THANK YOU to the DUPLIN GOP. TRUE red Republicans! Heroes, really to retaining party integrity. Chairman Simmons needs to be replaced if this isn't handled fast and right doesn't occur. The NCGOP needs to acknowledge this automatic resignation. Now. Has the State Exec Com special meeting been scheduled yet??

Phil Berger is a power obsessed opportunist who does not have a principled bone in his body. As a face of the state GOP, he totally turns off conservatives. Berger is a big government man, through and through, because that is where power lies. He is the opposite of Trump and Musk and is more like Marc Basnight or Liston Ramsey than any other politician. There must have been some power angle where he had an in with the Democrat or thought the Republican would be too honest for him to engage in this blatant act of party disloyalty. Berger has opened himself up to this charge, and the Duplin GOP is to be thanked for having the guts to bring it forward. The question is whether the NCGOP will try to cover it up and sweep it under the rug? IF they do, then that will be a big sign that there needs to be a total change of leadership there.

Berger seems to be a Bush League Thom Tillis, running as a Republican but legislating as a Democrat. People like that hurt the Republican brand. The party would do well to show him the door.

Phil Berger is a turd in the Republican punchbowl who constantly betrays us on policy. What he did to ram through Roy Cooper's NC Green New Deal, HB951 in a radical left last minute rewrite of the original bill was atrocious and will cost NC electric ratepayers a bundle. The whole disgusting story can be read at this link:

Phil Berger has betrayed North Carolina Republicans. He needs to GO.

Phil Berger is the biggest phony in Raleigh, a North Carolina version of Washington, DC traitor Mitch McConnell. Berger is so big a whore to the liberal special interests that he ought to mount a red light over his office door. He is always turning tricks for them at the expense of Republican principles. Berger has also been Roy Cooper's biggest friend in the legislature, pushing all of Cooper's key policy issues, again against Republican principles. Heck, Cooper did not even need legislative Democrats when he had his good buddy Berger around. Given Berger's miserable legislative record, it is not surprising that he openly endorsed a liberal Democrat candidate against a Republican. He well and truly should be punished for that.
