10 sanctuary counties make NC the 8th least cooperative with ICE | Eastern NC Now

legislation pending in General Assembly to change that

ENCNow

Shockingly, a national ranking recently assessed North Carolina as the 8th least cooperative state with ICE on arresting criminal illegal aliens.  That is because ten sanctuary counties in NC refuse to accept ICE detainers when they release an illegal alien who has been convicted of a crime in North Carolina.  Instead of turning them over to ICE for deportation, these counties release them back into the community where they are free to commit more crimes against our citizens.

These sanctuary counties which put criminal illegal aliens ahead of law abiding citizens are Wake, Mecklenburg, Guilford, Forsyth, Buncombe, Chatham, Orange, Durham, and Wautauga.

There is legislation now pending in the General Assembly to crack down on these sanctuary counties.  One provision would allow any citizen harmed by these released illegal alien criminals to sue the county that released them for damages for any injury the illegal alien criminal caused after release.

North Carolina must pass a bill to crack down on these lawless sanctuary counties. I like the idea of making those counties and their sheriffs liable in civil court for any harm done to citizens by illegal alien criminals they release into the community/. They need to be made to pay for that and then maybe they will call ICE instead of inflicting these criminals on citizens.
