Portugal, Belgium, and Poland move to slow illegal immigration

ENCNow

As the European public opinion continues to move heavily against mass migration, three European governments have made moves to tighten immigration law or policy.

In Portugal, the center-right minority government passed a new law cracking down on immigration with the support of the leading opposition party, the populist nationalist right Chega! (Enough!) Party, which is the second largest in parliament.  The new law severely limits "family reunification" as a grounds for immigration, restricts work permits for immigrants to skilled jobs, and created a new unit within the national police specifically tasked with stopping illegal immigration and with deporting those in the country unlawfully (Portugal's ICE).

Meanwhile, the government of Belgium has reinstated internal border checks of identification to crack down on illegal immigration.

In Poland, the government has given new powers to its soldiers on its border with Belarus to deal with illegal immigration.

Last month, the conservative government in Greece instituted a major crackdown on illegal immigration, including a moratorium on asylum applications.

In Spain, a poll for a major newspaper has found that 70% of Spanish voters support mass deportation of illegal aliens from the country.

Europeans are seeing their nations being destroyed by mass migration and are trying to save them while they can. In some countries, the politicians are listening. In others, citizens are changing their politics to parties that do listen, like the continuing increase is support of the Alternativ fur Deutschland in Germany. AfD is already the main opposition party in the Bundestag and has increased its support since last year's election.
