new poll: Democrats in Congress hit lowest approval number ever recorded | Eastern NC Now

below 20%

A new poll reflects just how much trouble the Democrats in Congress are for the upcoming 2026 election.  Off year elections are won or lost based on voter enthusiasm and turnout.  And worst of all for the Democrats?  It came from a pollster which is notorious for tilting to the left and the Democrats.

The latest Quinnipiac poll shows voter approval for Democrats in Congress has sunk to 19%, the lowest ever recorded by any pollster for support for any party in the US Congress.  In contrast, Quinnipiac's poll showed approval for Republicans in Congress at 33%.

Even among Democrats' own voters, only 39% approved of their party's performance in Congress, while 52% disapproved.  Among Republican voters, 77% approved of their party's Congressional delegation's performance while only 20% disapproved.  Those are the numbers that are particularly telling for voter enthusiasm for 2026 elections.
