Populist anti-immigration right now leading in polls in Germany, France, and UK | Eastern NC Now

Polls in France and the UK have shown parties of the populist anti-immigration right leading for some time, The National Rally of Marine LePen in France and the Reform Party of Nigel Farage, respectively.  Now the third country of Europe's big three has joined the list, with a major poll showing Germany's populist nationalist anti-immigration Alternativ fur Deutschland (AfD) in the lead for the first time.

In a new poll for two German TV networks, the respected German polling frim Forsa found AfD in the lead at 26%, with the governing traditional conservative Christian Democrats second at 24%.  The left of center Social Democrats were a distant third. at 13%.

Two countries with elections this Fall are also showing the populist nationalist anti-immigration right in the lead.  In the Czech Republic, it is the ANO (Action of Dissatisfied Citizens) Party led by former prime minister Andrej Babis, which holds a double digit lead over the governing traditional conservative Divic Democrats, and in the Netherlands it is the Party for Freedom of Geert Wilders.  Also in Austria, the populist nationalist anti-immigration Freedom Party holds a wide lead over traditional parties of the right and left.
