Mr. Charles Richard Wilkins, Sr., age 80, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Friday August 15, 2025, at his home with loving family by his side.

    Mr. Charles Richard Wilkins, Sr., age 80, a resident of Belhaven, NC died Friday August 15, 2025, at his home with loving family by his side.

    A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday August 20, 2025, at Belhaven Assembly of God Church officiated by Pastor Ron Bousquet and Pastor Larry Belch. A burial will follow in Odd Fellowes Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ethan Jefferson, Bryan Hudson, Darrell Pugh, Wayne Pugh, Daniel Wilkins, and Mathew Wilkins.

    The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday at the church and other times at the home.

    Mr. Charles was born in Beaufort County on February 5, 1945, son of the late Carl Ellis Wilkins and the late Erma Ray Pugh Wilkins. He was a 1964 graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School and continued his education in engineering at Texas A & M. On June 13, 1965, he married the former Elizabeth Ann Baum, and they enjoyed sixty years of marriage the past June. While running a close race the only one he loved more than his wife was his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. His engineering studies enabled him to become a Merchant Seaman with Texaco Refining & Marketing and later worked as an engineer with the NCDOT Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry. On his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching sports, playing sports. One of his ministries was helping Double Portion in setting up equipment and assisting with the sound board. He also was the bands bus driver for many years. He was a member of Belhaven Assembly of God and retired from being a volunteer with Belhaven Volunteer Fire Department after twenty-seven years.

    Surviving along with his wife: Hook of the home are his children: Charles Wilkins, Jr. and his wife Sherri of the Long Acre community of Plymouth, Jay Wilkins of Belhaven, and Anna Hooten and her husband John of Belvedere; a brother: Robert Wilkins and his wife Frances of Belhaven; a sister-in-law: Hope Wilkins of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren: Tyler Hudson and her husband Bryan, Katelyn Jefferson and her husband Ethan, McKinsey Hooten, Rayann Banka and her husband Aaron, and Jaden Hooten; and three great grandchildren: Jase Hudson, Delilia Jefferson, and Rowe Jefferson.

    Mr. Charles was preceded in death, along with his parents by a brother: Carl Wilkins.
