How "woke" math threatens our schools - from Real Clear Investigations | Eastern NC Now

Beaufort County's "Bridges" math curriculum has some of this

ENCNow

The "woke" far left ideologues who push DEI, CRT, radical gender ideology, ESG, and similar "woke" garbage have long targeted K-12 education.  Liberal textbook companies have been eaten up with it, as have the radical teachers unions.  Some states like Florida and Texas have been fighting back to keep this political propaganda out of the curriculum, but not North Carolina.

Woke dogma even finds its way into math textbooks.  Florida rejected the math textbooks of the liberal Savvas textbook company finding their math curriculum loaded with DEI and CRT.  Here in Beaufort County, the school board on a 7 to 2 vote adopted the Bridges math curriculum which contains DEI and even worse is based on the Common Core concept that has failed students around the country.

Now Real Clear Investigations has published an excellent article on the far left's distortion of math education in grades K-12:

When conservatives on the Beaufort County School Board objected to the Bridges math curriculum due to its DEI content, they were given the same canned excuse used by the liberal foundation in the article from Real Clear Investigations.

Sadly most parents don't look at the books their children use, or ask questions so they are clueless. Blind trust of the schools or doctors is not a good thing.

The school board members who gave us woke math were all of them other than Charles Hickman and Donald Shreve. The other 7 should be ashamed of themselves. Of those who voted for woke math, only one, Terry Williams, is up for election next year. (Stacey Davis, Daniel Hudson, and Steve Rader were not yet on the school board when that was voted on).
