    On July 21, 2013, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny from a home on Duck Creek Road in Washington, NC. The Sheriff's Office began an investigation that developed evidence and leads for this case and nine additional property crimes occurring between March 13, 2013 and August 8, 2013 in the Duck Creek and Camp Leach Road areas.

    As a result of he investigation, Investigator Brad Shackelford applied for and obtained warrants charging Adam Joshua Lozon, age 26, and John Aaron Wilkins, age 21, both of Jeremy Lane in Washington with Second Degree Burglary, Felony Breaking and Entering, two(2) counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Johnathan Alexander Green, age 16, of Bradley Lane in Washington, was charged with Second Degree Burglary, two(2) counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, three(3) counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Attempted Breaking and Entering and Damage to Real Property. Juvenile Petitions were also obtained charging three juveniles with Breaking and Entering, Larceny after Breaking and Entering, Larceny of a Firearm, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Attempted Breaking and Entering. Two of the juveniles were also charged with Second Degree Burglary, Damage to Real Property, (4) counts of Felony Breaking and Entering, and (3) counts of Larceny After Breaking and Entering.Evidence collected in this investigation led to a Felony Larceny charge against a fourth juvenile for an Apple IPad taken from Bath Elementary School.

    Green turned himself in to the Sheriff's Office and was taken before Magistrate Eric Holmes. Green was released on a $10,000.00 unsecured bond. Lozon and Wilkins were served with the warrants while being held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on similar charges. They each received an additional $10,000.00 secured bond set by Magistrate David Curtis.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
On April 25, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaleza Aneice Alexander on multiple drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple vehicle break-ins between December 6 th and December 9 th in the areas of Turkey Trot Rd., South Asbury Church Rd. and Magnolia School Rd. in Washington.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from concerned parents regarding a past incident that occurred at Bath Elementary School. I would like to assure the public that there is no current threat of school violence.
On Saturday, October 11th, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 739 Cherry Rd, Washington NC for a 911 call reporting a male subject being shot.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025 at approximately 1900 hours, Washington Police Department units were dispatched to the 600 block of West 9th Street in reference to a possible shooting in progress.
On December 16 th the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Response Team along with officers from the Washington Police Department joined forces to arrest a subject wanted in Beaufort and Pitt County for ten outstanding warrants that included multiple felony charges.
