emails reveal climate alarmist scientists knew "sea level rise" was bogus | Eastern NC Now

Several years ago hacked emails from the Climate Research Unit at the UK's University of East Anglia among prominent climate alarmist scientists worldwide blew huge holes in the integrity and credibility of the climate alarmist movement. That became known as "Climategate".  Now a new set of emails blows up the climate alarmists' most powerful scare story, "sea level rise".

"Sea Level Rise" first took a huge hit a few months ago when an exhaustive study of tide gauge records from around the world going back to the 1800s showed that the actual data revealed absolutely no evidence of any sea level rise.  When Professor Michael Shellenberger began a wideranging email discussion with prominent climate alarmist scientists he knew, the story got worse.  It turned out that these scientists always knew that the sea level rise argument was bogus.  Now Shellenberger has released those emails.

Shellenburg spent much of his life as an environmental activist, playing prominent roles in a number of environmentalist organizations.  Then in 2020, he shifted his position, publishing a book entitled "Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All".

Those scientists who have examined actual climate history have tended to be skeptical of sea level rise.  During the Medieval Warm Period, when it was warmer than today for several hundred years, there was no recorded change in sea levels in Europe's coastal cities, some of which are fairly low lying.  Farther back, during the Holocene Maximum, when it was much warmer than today for three thousand years, part of that period coincided with the golden age of ancient Greece, and there are no writings of the ancient Greeks that show any change in sea levels then, either.  Indeed sea levels in that part of the world seem to be the same today as they were during the Holocene Maximum.

Now even longtime climate alarmist mouthpiece billionaire leftie Bill Gates is backing off,   Gates has published a 17 page memo on his website saying that the doomsday scenario of "climate change" is wrong.
