Trumpian conservative Jose Kast decisively wins presidency of Chile in runoff | Eastern NC Now
Chilean congress already in solid conservative hands
After winning control of Congress, conservatives have again handily prevailed in the presidential runoff in Chile. Jose Kast, candidate of the right wing Chilean Republican Party won a landslide 58% of the vote. Kast, a descendent of legal German immigrants, ran on cracking down on crime, reviving the economy, and cracking down on illegal immigration, including deporting the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens in Chile.
Kast won 7 million votes, the largest number ever received by a presidential candidate in Chile's history. He also won in every region of the country.

Neighboring Bolivia recently elected a president from the right after two decades of failed socialism, as did Ecuador. Argentina went to the right two years ago, and the right just expanded its representation in its congress.
