Czech Republic rejects EU migration policy, will adopt zero tolerance for migrants | Eastern NC Now

follows Poland's rejection of EU migrant policy

ENCNow

The European Union established a policy that requires its members to either accept a quota of illegal alien migrants or pay big fines for those they refuse to take.  Poland has already said NO to that scheme, and it will be the first action of the new Czech cabinet to also say NO at its first meeting.  The new Czech government is led by Prime Minister Andrej Babis, who was dubbed the "Czech Trump" during a previous stint in that office.  Babis leads the populist nationalist anti-immigration ANO Party.  The party's name in Czech means "Yes" and stands for the party's full name "Action of Dissatisfied Citizens".

Babis will instead put forward a law to have zero tolerance for illegal immigration, and very strictly limit grounds for asylum.  One of his two coalition partners, the populist nationalist anti-immigration Freedom and Direct Democracy Party campaigned on holding a referendum to leave the European Union entirely as well as banning mosques in the country.

Meanwhile, a major crackdown on illegal aliens is underway in another EU member, the Mediteranian island of Cyprus.  Although the island is very close to Syria and Lebannon, which has fueled migrant arrivals, the government is now expelling five migrants for every one new arrival.  Cyprus is next in line for the EU's rotating presidency and has it will use it to push continent wide migrant return policies.
