new poll: anti-immigration One Nation Party now the most popular party in Australia | Eastern NC Now

Australia's anti-immigration One Nation Party, led by Senator Pauline Hanson, is now the most popular political party in Australia according to the latest poll.  The poll comes after One Nation won an upset landslide to capture the Farrer seat in the national parliament from New South Wales state, which had been a Liberal safe seat for 70 years and was being vacated by the outgoing Liberal Party leader.  During the course of that election, a poll by YouGov had shown One Nation tied with the governing Labor Party for first place nationally.

The latest poll from AusPoll finds One Nation first at 32%, the governing Labor Party second at 28.5%, the traditional conservative Liberal / National "coalition" third at 16.5%, the far left Greens at 11.5$, and others at 11.5%.  In the last national election for parliament, One Nation received only 3% of the vote, but in last month's state election in South Australia, they ran second at 23%.

Meanwhile, in Germany, the populist nationalist anti-immigration Alternativ fur Deutschland (AdF) has expanded its lead in the polls for the Saxony-Anhalt state election which will be held in September to an 18 point lead.  The latest poll by INSA gives AfD 42% to the second placed Christian Democrats' 24%.  The center left Social Democrats were at 6%. barely above the 5% threshold to win any seats at all, while the far left Green Party was at 4%, below the threshold.
