Despite the inclement weather, last night's wind energy community forum in Newport was standing room only.

    Stan:

Sorry this report is delayed a bit but we came home from last night's productive meeting to a large tree across the road, a power pole down on our street, and no electricity for over 12 hours. This just goes to show how important reliable electricity is  -  which is something we often take for granted.

Despite the inclement weather, last night's wind energy community forum in Newport was standing room only. (A sample photo is attached.) Several state and local legislators were there, and they all made good observations about why this proposed project is a problem.
Sample photo here attached: Above.
It was encouraging that numerous citizens were willing to speak out about this important community matter. Over 95% of the 100+ attendees were opposed to this project  -  due to the economics, the environment, health consequences, and concerns about its impact on Cherry Point.

It was agreed that the next two immediate objectives were to:

    1) work with Newport representatives to upgrade their basic tall structure ordinance, and

    2) encourage Carteret Commissioners to improve their good tall structure ordinance.

For those who were unable to attend (and for those who were there who wanted more time to study it closer), I just put the entire slide presentation I gave online. Let me know any questions about that.

This information (along with our Mill Pond website) should give citizens a radically different perspective than what they've been hearing from the wind marketing people.

Let me know any questions, or if you'd like additional studies on any aspect of this matter.
