Lois was born in Halifax County on January 20, 1950, the daughter of the late Lewis Smith Jr. and Lucinda Boyd Smith. She attended Chocowinity High School and worked in the Quality Control Department at Hamilton Beach and retired from Impressions in Washington.

On March 8, 1967, she married William Amos Harris, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 22, 2024. Together, since their teens and married for over 57 years, they built a life centered around family, love, and the simple joys that meant so much to them.

The memories they made together will remain a treasured part of their lives. Also, a beloved sister-in-law: Velma Jean Lokey of Blackjack and a brother: John David Smith of Chocowinity as well as other beloved family and friends who were blessed to know her. Lois was predeceased, along with her parents and husband, by a brother: James Louis Smith.

Lois found happiness in many of life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed crafting, caring for animals, putting together puzzles, cooking, and decorating cakes. She had a special heart for animals, and her love for them led her to support the Beaufort County Humane Society.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 33, Washington, NC 27889.
