Harvey West - the Democrats "red herring" issue - because they avoid talking real issues | Eastern NC Now

With a critical election ahead of us, one would think a major party like the Democrats would want to address real issues.  If you have been watching television or reading your mail, they do not.  They keep wanting to throw up a red herring about a guy named Harvey West.

And the Democrat spiel is about ancient history, events that happened, if they happened at all decades ago back in the last century.  They only want to try to bring it forward with a "guilt by association" schtick. 

Lets look at what happened way back then in the Bill Clinton era.  Allegations surfaced about the wife of a former Washington police chief and some inappropriate acts with children.  The powers that be at the time circled the wagons around her, but they needed a fall guy to take the heat off of her.  They settled on a young policeman named Harvey West, Jr. as that fall guy.

The operation was simple.  Drum up charges on West to take the heat off of the police chief's wife.   Let her offer testimony against West in return for a reduction of her own charges.  Make West the one who took the heavy load.  West was also a convenient fall guy as he had been the officer who had happened to be assigned to investigate some allegations against a powerful local Democrat that the powers that be wanted to make go away.

The police department of the era was aghast at what was being done.  Many of them would openly admit off the record that the charges on West were made up to protect the chief's wife.  According to officers of that era. there had not been any physical contact at all between West and the alleged victim.

The deal went down.  The former chief's wife was allowed to cop a misdemeanor plea and get probation.  West was only offered felony choices and had the risk that if a jury believed the story put out about him, he could go away for many years, so he pled to a lesser felony and went to prison.

West got out of prison, and put all of that behind him.  He was successful in a small local business and has been happily married for decades.

What happened to West was extremely dirty politics back in the last century, and it has again turned into more extremely dirty politics for today socialist Democrats.  With the nature of dirty Democrats, Ii am sure we will keep seeing this garbage from now through election day on TV and in our mailboxes instead of discussion of real issues.
