BOC tries to close the barn door after the horse is gone...and call it supporting Pungo Hospital

The Beaufort County Commission held a special called meeting Monday (9-30-13) to discuss what they could do to help with the Pungo Hospital issue. Vidant is closing the facility and replacing it with an "urgent care" clinic that it says will operate 24/7/365.

Beaufort/Hyde losing Pungo Hospital

The people DownEast, specifically in the eastern portions of Beaufort County north of the Pamlico River and those in Hyde County are being faced with a double whammy - the loss of the inpatient facility at Pungo Hospital in Belhaven and the loss of a reported 127 jobs.
