new report: Teachers unions put over $1 Billion into Democrat campaigns, leftist causes | Eastern NC Now

reflects political bias in the classroom

ENCNow

Defending Education, a national group of parents concerned about public education, has released a report revealing over $1 Billion in political contributions by America's teachers unions to Democrats and leftwing causes.  This includes contributions from the National Education Association (NEA), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and their state affiliates.  In North Carolina, the NEA has a local affiliate, the NC Association of Educators (NCAE), but the AFT does not.

The report finds NEA gave over $307 million from its dues and over $131 million form its PAC to Democrat and leftwing causes.  The AFT gave over $159 million from dues and over $70 million from its PAC to these causes.  When state and local affiliates are included the total comes to over a billion dollars.

This political activity by teachers unions raises serious questions about how many teachers we have in the classroom who are not being objective in their presentations to students.   In Beaufort County, we need to be concerned that two former teachers union members have won school board nominations in our county.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was spot on when he recently called teachers unions "partisan organizations" when he signed new legislation to crack down on their antics.

Clearly joining a teachers union is little different than joining Democrat Socialists of America.

The NEA teachers union has been pushing students to walk out of class in opposition to enforcement of immigration laws, and so have some of its state affiliates. They have put out communications supporting this activity and even funded it. There are planned student walkouts for May Day which is tomorrow and some reports of them starting today. This is radical leftwing behavior that fits the Democrat partisan agenda. Honorable teachers would never promote students to leave class for radical political protests but these despicable teachers unions DO.

One more reason why School Choice is the most significant evolving issue in North Carolina, created to solely bring education back from the brink of its incalculable decline and its gathering, further decay.

The teachers unions are little more than the alter ego of the Democrat Party. This is just more evidence of that.
