(commented on November 13th, 2023 @ 11:39 am)Not an election analyst, but since no else has stepped forward, I'm going to speculate here anyway.
It appears that Washington has 2172 active voters out of a population of about 9,000. (I wonder how many of the 9,000 are children.)
It appears we have 1265 Democrat voters and 1265 GOP voters.
Since GOPers Ceres & Tex lost, it shows that the GOPers didnt choose them. The GOP mayoral candidate got 899 likely GOP votes. If those same voters had turned out for Ceres and Tex, they would have won.
Lou got 879 votes so it looks like the GOP did turn out for her.
Ellen w 747 votes likely got the city elite votes from the chamber of commerce crowd, both GOP and Dem.
Anyone else want to add their 2 cents worth?

(On Veteran's Day and always)
It was the Veteran, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.
It was the Veteran, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It was the Veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to fair trial.
It was the Veteran, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It is the Veteran, who salutes the flag, who served under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag.

(commented on August 29th, 2025 @ 8:48 am)John, FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT. I have seen so many talk about the rate decrease and blame the county for their tax increase. The average taxpayer does not understand what you just put in plain English. Well done sir. Now get on Facebook and shut down the misinformation coming from all directions on how this works, lol. The City increased taxes without providing more services. It is about like when they increased the rate .02 to save for the police station. They were supposed to give it back once it was built. Did they do that? NO! So that's an extra .02 that was diverted to fund their other pet projects and misuse of tax dollars.
(commented on December 19th, 2024 @ 10:04 am)Will, the inmates are not convicted criminals. They are innocent until proven guilty. By law, they have to receive 2 hot meals a day. So, no, all they need is not a peanut butter sandwich.
(commented on July 3rd, 2024 @ 9:26 am)It would do you some good to look at the budget before assuming. The $1,134,319 increase from FY23 to FY24 was without SROS. The funding for SROs was already in the budget for the county. It just simply moves the expense from the schools to the Sheriff's office. I agree. The SROs was a big win for taxpayers. If you are fine with the irresponsible spending coming from their office, vote accordingly. Good stewards don't buy their desk staff $500 suits on the taxpayer dime. They don't throw $500 retirement parties for their dogs with the tax payers money. They don't stay in $350+ a night hotels when traveling on the tax payers dime. All of this is public information. Maybe you should look into it yourself before taking everything at face value.
(commented on October 31st, 2023 @ 1:19 pm)What should he have recused himself for? At the point the motion was made to loan the money, he hadn't sold the property to anyone. He was just a Council Member who owned property.
(commented on October 31st, 2023 @ 10:47 am)THIS IS A LIE
"We also know that Council Member Brooks bought two lots from the Housing Authority after making a motion to move the $580,000 out of the General Fund over to the Housing Authority and then sold it back the Housing Authority for a profit."
He may have sold them to the Housing Authority, but to claim that he bought them after making a motion is simply not true. Those lots we purchased in 2012, DB 1778, P113.
(commented on October 31st, 2023 @ 9:11 am)Send them then. I don't think they're going to prove what you say they're going to prove.

(commented on October 27th, 2023 @ 10:28 pm)So shame is good if it's self-awareness, but bullying if it is calling someone else out. Okay, I agree.
So why are YOU actively shaming others by detailing what YOU claim are their sins?
You may be a retired pastor, but so am I.
Take the log out of your own eye, madam.

(commented on October 22nd, 2023 @ 11:55 am)You have been county commissioner for 27 years, yet you have never voted for a budget. You have deceived the Beaufort County citizens. Your dereliction of duty has failed the people in this county. You are an embarrassment to the people in this county across the state. You are being paid by the taxpayers yet you only work for your own agenda. You have cost the taxpayers money and deterred businesses from coming to Beaufort County. We need commissioners that build our community for our families, children, and grandchildren. You sir, have failed the people. Instead of spreading lies and misinformation, do your job. Instead of attacking others, uphold your own oath of office, which you have failed to do.

(commented on October 22nd, 2023 @ 1:45 pm)Concerned Taxpayer, different tactics are utilized during the budget process. Rep Kidwell lets his objections be known and they all come to the table for negotiations. Kidwell is a champion of the people. Richardson just yells randomly to make the taxpayers think he is a champion for them. He is not. He always wants to know if the meeting is being live-streamed before he speaks. He left the budget meeting after making an absurd comment. Didn’t stay for the process because he had his conservative PAC meeting. As he said, “politics is a hobby” for him. We the people are not here for his entertainment.
(commented on October 20th, 2023 @ 5:26 pm)I know you would rather be right, but you are not. You sir, are the beholder of ignorance. You know Ms Garris is doing a great job and you can’t stand it. Get off your soap box and bother someone else. From what I see, she has implemented changes to better serve the citizens of Beaufort County and customers. I hope the voters are paying attention to all the lies and misinformation you spread.

(commented on June 25th, 2026 @ 11:14 am)The experienced powerplayers always make sure that no matter how many new ppl join an organization, the secret committee will always hold the power.
Many years ago a call went out for volunteers to come together to promote good things for the schools & students. After the introduction, they asked for volunteers to go sit at the table that best suited their personal goals. We did that. Shortly after a young woman with one of the elite surnames of the town came and sat with us, saying her name, and that she would be our chairman. I said "Hold on, dont we vote for our chairman?" She looked stunned and stated she was assigned to this position and knew nothing more. Sooo she was a puppet too. We had our meeting, but I didnt come back.
It appears this is the way the local GOP Party functions as well. Its full of "useful idiots" on the one hand and "powerbrokers" on the other. One then has to wonder, WHO are the local "powerbrokers" working for... those who are bosses above them?

(commented on June 22nd, 2026 @ 1:14 pm)Elected officials come & go but Bureaucrats R forever.
Each newly elected official is indoctrinated by th anonymous entity known as "the Staff."
I recall, calling our elected pple on an issue & being told by each: "I dont know I'll hav to ask th CityManager." So I decided, why waste my time on these City Council peope, I'll go straight to th CM. CM's love this. Its th point that a CM knows that he's th boss (by popular opinion), NOT THE COUNCIL. The Council has been neutered. As th system exist, I suspect this happens EVERYWHERE! Parts of this is why pple dream of term-limits. They know th inner workings R rotten & need a new awakening. That's also why we cant bring back Sadler. He was a rubberstamp for "the STAFF, as much as anyone. So HOW do we find a
replacement for Fritz who isnt a rubberstamper, treehugger, a butter-my-breader & worse yet, what th insiders call "a teamplayer."
The last policeChief was demoted. Yet th CM called hm a team-player. What does that mean? Follow th $.

(commented on June 21st, 2026 @ 1:31 pm)IMHO the people of Washington have been asleep for decades, maybe even a century.
I think "stirring the turd" is waking people up. They are opening their eyes and seeing that this isnt the 1950s any longer. General politians, bureaurcrats, and low-lifes in general have a quiet motto..."I've got to get mine." Yeah I saw that on a T shirt a couple decades back. There appears to be a sloppiness in life AND Govt the world over. Its how we end up with corruption and high taxes.
I know Govt monthly meetings can be boring as C-span, but WeThePeople must make it a part of our life, that we read the agenda, watch the meetings & keep a watch on all the Depts & Committees of the city. Remember "term limits?" We have a man who has been on a powerful city Board for 35 yrs. How does one do that? I think that they prove they are a "government team player." They dont rock the boat, they go along with what the Dept heads want. Let's Be observant.
Does anyone know? Why was last police chief demoted?
(commented on October 26th, 2023 @ 9:06 am)Sounds like HR took 45 minutes to say BC Schools arnt smiting the gays hard enough and won’t teach your children the benefits of slavery. Letting MAGA run the school board is not a good idea.
(commented on October 25th, 2023 @ 8:56 am)Well Diana, every 4 years we have an election. We will either keep the president or the other person will win. Either way, we all need to except the results. Anyone who is unwilling to do that is unfit for office. It’s that simple.
(commented on October 21st, 2023 @ 10:03 am)Funny how the one place, court, that has consequences for lying is where MAGA falls apart.
