On October 23, 2009, Missy Raines and the New Hip came to the Turnage Theater and proved that they were indeed worthy of that venerable stage. In fact, Missy Raines brought her jazzy interpretation of blues inspired pop played with traditional Bluegrass instruments, and it worked quite well.
Missy and her boys had just completed their fine new compact disc, Inside Out, and this collection of tunes were outstanding, played out on the Turnage's stage, and later at my home until I was satisfied that Mother Missy and her hip young men were quite a talented lot. Accordingly, Missy Raines and the New Hip are also one of the 6 most enjoyable acts that I witnessed on the Turnage Theater stage over the last two years.
