Naomi Dail Austin, 90 of Aurora, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2014 with loved ones at her side.

She was born on August 20, 1923 in Maury, North Carolina to Claude and Mattie Dail. She is preceded in death by her husband, Odell C. Austin, a daughter, Sue Mills, a brother, Claude Hardy Dail, and a sister Marie Sutton. She is survived her sister, Grace Carraway, two daughters, Nonie Marasco and husband, Jim and Ann Smith and husband, Chuck. Her son in law, Bobby Mills and wife Pat were very much part of her life also.

Naomi moved to Florida in 2006 and spent her time living with her two daughters, three months at each home. These years are certainly treasured by the families. She has six grandchildren, Kevin and Chris Marasco, Meredith Bernard, Judson Mills, Amanda Barritt and Brandon Smith. Her six great grandchildren are Ashleigh and Brooklyn Barritt, Wesley and Austin Bernard and Grace and Jack Mills.

Naomis longevity, friendly nature and delightful sense of humor made her an inspiration for everyone who knew her. Naomi was a people person and never met a stranger. Her motto was that she loved people and wanted people to love her. She always enjoyed the fact that people thought she favored Barbara Bush. Although she still called Aurora her first home, she became very fond of a special group of ladies at Neptune Baptist Church where she actively involved while living in Florida.

A celebration of Naomis life will be held at Campbells Creek United Methodist Church near Aurora, N.C. on Monday, March 31st at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Kevin Marasco, Chris Marasco, Brandon Smith, Judson Mills, David Austin and Scott Austin.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

This small community church always held a special place in Naomis heart even after she moved away.

Memorials can be made to the Campbells Creek United Methodist Church, 30323 Hwy 33 East, Aurora, NC 27806.
