Sylvia Boyd Gilbert | Eastern NC Now

    Sylvia Boyd Gilbert, 62, of 210 Shad Bend Drive, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in Rivertrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    Mrs. Gilbert was born in Pitt County, NC, on October 26, 1951 to the late Margaret Harris and Ray Boyd. She spent over three decades serving the Girl Scouts as both a troop leader and camp ranger, where she brought the joy of scouting to underprivileged communities and influenced the lives of countless girls and young women. Mrs. Gilbert was an active member of Elizabeth Chapel Church of Christ.

    Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her husband Jimmy Gilbert; her three daughters: Lori Sutton and her husband Jeff of Washington, NC, Missy Craig and her husband Donald of Springboro, OH, and Jamie Ivey and her husband Glen of Greenville, NC; her sister Ellen Deaton and her husband Roy of Shallotte, NC; her brother C.A. Boyd and his wife Darlene of New Bern, NC; her brother-in-law Ikie Gaskins and his wife Myla; and her five grandchildren: Blake, Alex, Holden, Logan, and Baylee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Betsy Gaskins of Vanceboro, NC.
