Stanley Caleb Norris | Eastern NC Now

    Stanley Caleb Norris, age 76, a resident of Vanceboro, died Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center.

    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Gorham Swamp PFWB Church, with Jerry Smith and Bobby Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Stanley was born on October 5, 1950, in Beaufort County to the late William Earl Norris and Mildred Allison Williams Norris. He was a 1968 graduate of Chocowinity High School. On September 23, 1968, he married Judie Arlene Rowe who preceded him in death on August 7, 2014. Stanley retired in 2013 after a 44-year career with Carolina Telephone/Sprint/Embarq. He loved hunting and fishing and sharing the gospel with others. Stanley was a member of Gorham Swamp PFWB Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He also held Wednesday night Bible study for many years.

    Survivors include his children, Stanley Christopher Norris (Dana) of Morehead City and Mildred Stacey Griffin (James) of Vanceboro, brother, Fenner Earl Norris (Cindy) of Clarks, grandchildren, Kyle Christopher Norris (Hannah), and John Tyler Griffin (Angela).

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gorham Swamp PFWB Church, 1584 NC-102, Chocowinity, NC 27817
