Man Arrested Under Several Felony Breaking and Entering,Kidnapping,and several various charges including Domestic Violence related | Eastern NC Now

On June 20, 2014 at approximately 9:30 am, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a domestic dispute on Christol Lane in Vanceboro, NC.

Donnie Smith
    On June 20, 2014 at approximately 9:30 am, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a domestic dispute on Christol Lane in Vanceboro, NC. Deputies responded to the scene and began an investigation. As a result, Deputies arrested Donnie Pernell Smith, age 22 of Mile Road in Vanceboro and charged him with Assault on a Female. Smith was taken before Magistrate Jasper Mills and ordered held in the Beaufort County Detention Center without bond. Smith was released on June 22nd after posting a $1000 secured bond set by a District Court Judge.

    On July 30, 2014 at approximately 7:30 am, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a dispute at the same residence on Christol Lane. Responding Deputies learned that Smith had returned to the residence in violation of a Domestic Violence Protective Order. Smith reportedly broke into the residence, assaulted a male inside, then forced an adult female and two minor children to leave with him. A vehicle at the scene was also vandalized.

    Deputies responded to the area to attempt to locate the female and two children. The Craven County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the search. Smith, the female victim and the two children were located by Craven County Deputies at a residence on Molly Ave in Craven County. Smith was taken into custody by Craven County Deputies and charged with Domestic Violence Protective Order Violation and Simple Assault in Craven County and transported to Craven County Magistrate's Office. Smith was held without bond.

    After completion of the investigation by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Brad Shackelford obtained warrants charging Donnie Smith with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering to Terrorize, Second Degree Kidnapping, Assault Inflicting Serious Injury with Minor Present, Felonious Restraint, Assault by Strangulation, Domestic Violence Protective Order Violation, Domestic Criminal Trespass, Larceny After Breaking and Entering, Assault on a Female, Injury to Personal Property and Simple Assault. Smith was served at the Craven County Detention Center and ordered held without the benefit of bond.

On April 17, 2026 Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff Office received information that 37-year-old Clinton Alexander Daniel of Chocowinity NC had strangled his 4-year-old son.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
On April 25, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaleza Aneice Alexander on multiple drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple vehicle break-ins between December 6 th and December 9 th in the areas of Turkey Trot Rd., South Asbury Church Rd. and Magnolia School Rd. in Washington.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from concerned parents regarding a past incident that occurred at Bath Elementary School. I would like to assure the public that there is no current threat of school violence.
On Saturday, October 11th, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 739 Cherry Rd, Washington NC for a 911 call reporting a male subject being shot.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025 at approximately 1900 hours, Washington Police Department units were dispatched to the 600 block of West 9th Street in reference to a possible shooting in progress.
