Carlos Rome
On 08-13-2014, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Carlos Jayshawn Rome, 39 years of age, of 1053 Railroad Street in Belhaven. Rome was charged with three counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Manufacturing Marijuana, Trafficking in Cocaine, Maintaining a Dwelling to Keep and Sell a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Rome's arrest stemmed from investigators making purchases of marijuana from Rome. Investigators obtained two arrest warrants on Rome for Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana after the purchases were complete.

Investigators established surveillance on Rome's residence before serving the arrest warrants. Investigators witnessed short duration high volume traffic at Rome's residence which is consistent with the distribution of controlled substances. Investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that departed from Rome's residence and recovered a quantity of controlled substance. The driver of the vehicle admitted the controlled substance was purchased from Rome.

Investigators immediately responded to Rome's residence and knocked on the front door. Rome answered the door and was arrested for the two active warrants for Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana. While investigators were arresting Rome they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.

Investigators obtained a Search Warrant for the residence and conducted a search. Investigators and K-9 Elza found a marijuana indoor grow room that contained grow lights, fans, topsoil and fertilizer, 97 grams of marijuana, 25 grams of crack cocaine, 45 grams of powder cocaine and $4,005.00 in US currency.

Rome was detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secured bond.
