    Mrs. Lucinda Boyd Smith, age 91, died Thursday morning August 28, 2014 at Ridgewood Manor.

    A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM on Saturday August 30, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Pastor Phillip Jethro.

    Mrs. Smith was born in Pitt County on April 28, 1923, daughter of the late James Oliver Boyd and Jennie Angel Boyd. She married Louis Smith, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1978. Mrs. Smith was employed with the Shirt Factory for 10 years and retired from Hamilton Beach after 15 years' service. Her last employment was as custodian at Wachovia Bank for five years. Mrs. Smith loved her church, porcelain dolls, flowers and was an avid Elvis fan.

    She is survived by her children: Lois J. Harris of Washington and John David Smith of Chocowinity, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son: James Louis Smith; her sisters: Lizzie Arnold, Ruby Moore, Frances Boyd, Beatrice Ambrose and Alberta Moore and her brothers: Willie Boyd and Jesse Boyd.

    The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM on Friday night and other times at the home of her daughter, Lois Harris located at 1203 Mill Hole Road.
