    Mrs. Mae Bell Walker Harris, age 96, a resident of 202 Walls Mill Road, Aurora, NC, died Thursday January 8, 2015 at Carolina East Medical Center.

    Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday January 11, 2015, at White Hill Free Will Baptist Church and will be officiated by Pastor Wesley Taylor. Burial will follow at the Joshua Rowe Cemetery.

    Mrs. Harris was born in Beaufort County on July 8, 1918 to the late Edd Walker and Fannie Daniels. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and housewife. She loved to sew and to garden. She was an excellent cook and loved to do so. She also served as the family historian. In June 1942 she married the late Howard C. Harris who preceded her in death on April 18, 2005. She was a member of the Broad Creek Christian Church but later in life attended the White Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

    Survivors include a daughter, Frances Prescott and husband Larry of Grantsboro, a son Joseph H. Harris and wife Joyce of Aurora, five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

    There will not be a public visitation but the family will receive friends at her home, 202 Walls Mill Road, Aurora.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the White Hill Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 9204 Old Sandhill Road, Aurora, NC 27806 or the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
