Obama. On EVERY FRICKIN' CHANNEL ... | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's note: Brant Clifton uses the words of others, in part, to remind us of real Socialist Obama in his "bare knuckles" Conservative online publication known as The Daily Haymaker.

I am sure many of you rushed home last night, cleared your schedule, and camped out in front of the TV awaiting breathlessly the latest pronouncements of our Dear Leader. I am also sure that quite a few Americans turned on the TV and asked 'Why is the Devil from that Bible miniseries talking to Congress?'

Yes, we were once again blessed with that yearly televised demonstration of how our Founding Fathers' vision for this country has gone frightfully awry. The scalawags who are flushing our economy and our country down the toilet - all in the name of "fighting" for us - got together in front of the cameras to applaud each other and put on a little show for the little people back home:

President Barack Obama on Tuesday night declared an end to the U.S. economic crisis as he made the case to Americans, and a skeptical Congress, that now was the time to focus on resolving the most stubborn impediment to a full-fledged recovery: lagging progress among the middle class.

"The shadow of crisis has passed," Mr. Obama said in his annual State of the Union address, arguing that a revitalized economy should guide Washington leaders to confront what he called "middle-class economics." Laying out a broad vision for his last two years in office, Mr. Obama asked lawmakers of both parties to "commit ourselves to an economy that generates rising incomes and chances for everyone who makes the effort." [...]

Ah, the old saw about 'income inequality.' Sounds familiar. Now, WHERE have I heard THAT before? MORE:

"At this moment-with a growing economy, shrinking deficits, bustling industry, and booming energy production-we have risen from recession freer to write our own future than any other nation on Earth," he said.

Wha ...? A GROWING economy? Where? Energy production - from fracking and more traditional methods - has succeeded no thanks to the obstructive sabotage from HIM, his political allies, and the bureaucracy. The federal debt is at its highest point in history. The most bustling going on in industry is involved in the scramble to get offshore and avoid punitive taxes and regulations. MORE: obama speech

But Mr. Obama's economic agenda, which hinges on raising taxes on high-income Americans to fund initiatives to benefit those at lower income levels, faces a deeply uncertain path in a Congress that for the first time in his presidency is fully controlled by Republicans.[...]

Republicans making trouble? Let's see how intense that opposition IS:

[...] New Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) said Mr. Obama's proposal to raise taxes on high-income Americans-$320 billion over 10 years-damped hopes for making progress on an overhaul of the tax code. But underscoring the prospects for deal-making, remote as they may be, Mr. McConnell didn't rule out an eventual compromise on taxes. He also cited trade pacts and cybersecurity legislation as potential areas of agreement with the president.

"The American people aren't demanding talking-point proposals designed to excite the base but not designed to pass" in Congress, Mr. McConnell said. "What they said they're hungry for is substance and accomplishment. They want Washington to get back to work and focus on a serious jobs and reform agenda." [...]

A "compromise" on taxes? Yikes. WATCH YOUR WALLETS. Oh, and we want stuff to pass and some "substance and accomplishment"? Who DID? All kinds of polling showed that people voted Republican for the explicit purpose of STOPPING everything Obama and his team have been doing. The only reason Thom Tillis is now in DC is because Kay Hagan spent too much time conspiring with Big Barry! I don't think ANYBODY outside the beltway was seriously looking for cooperation. If that was the case, you'd have a healthy Democrat majority on Capitol Hill now. (*Gotta love, ol' Mitch.* Bless his heart.) obama-net-neutrality-fcc-title-ii-100529803-primary.idge

Obama spent a good chunk of the night laying the groundwork for some serious class warfare. (He's been doubling down on the race stuff with Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, and Staten Island. Now comes the class war part.) :

But the overarching theme of Mr. Obama's speech was his notion of "middle-class economics," which he described as "the idea that this country does best when everyone gets their fair shot." His plans include some $235 billion in new spending, which he proposes raising through an increase in top capital-gains tax rates and new taxes on many inheritances, among other measures.

Inheritance taxes are punitive. They don't just affect people like Donald Trump. They cause children who inherit mom and dad's small business to close up shop and lay everyone off just to pay the tax man. They force children to sell - to a developer - the family farmland they inherited so they can satisfy an oppressive tax bill.

Capital gains taxes target investors. Businesses need capital from investors in order to start-up, grow, and prosper. Raising capital gains taxes discourages increased investment.

And new spending? How responsible is THAT with an $18 trillion - and growing - federal debt? How about showing SOME responsibility with the loot you've already shaken down from us?

It's not about "getting something done." We're looking for leadership that sets aside ego and personal gain for the sake of getting the country's house in order and fulfilling the obligations laid out in the Constitution. mcconnboehner

Unlike McConnell, Speaker Boehner is at least talking a good game:

But even before the president spoke Tuesday, House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) made his skepticism clear in a video posted to Facebook in which he said, "Tonight isn't about the president's legacy; it's about the peoples' priorities. Making government bigger isn't going to help the middle class." [...]

Folks, don't think FOR A MINUTE that you can sit back and relax because the GOP is now in charge of the Congress. There's already plenty of special interest bribe money floating around. Lobbyists are wining and dining the politicians.

You can't count on them to simply honor promises made on the campaign trail. It's become pretty clear that - to save our country - we have to turn up the heat on our leaders. And keep it on.

This is baloney, my brother:
(1) Tax code has all rich and corporate spending going offshore and to 3rd world countries while our work force languishes = opposite of what was "supposed" to happen.
(2) Estate Taxes were brought in to offset the Robber Baron wealth being passed down to only their heirs and not this country. That was Old World abuse of the people by kings and royalty. The tax gives credit for $2.5+ millions being passed and a high tax for the overage. Could you not live off that from your parents???
(3) Romney is the king of Capital Gains paying only 14% from billions earned destroying corps for personal gain ~~~ how is this fair??? How does it compare to what you paid last year working your buns off in regular working income tax???
(4) We are spending 51% of discretionary spending on WAR with no return except soldiers killed and mentally deranged to lose civil wars overseas. That is the cause of the deficit along with favoring the rich and corps . . . I won't mention the tremendous wealth Dick Cheney is getting over private contracting for WAR. . .

You, sir, are dead WRONG on every allegation. This Recession, now ending, came as a direct result of Reaganomics and reduction of regulation of banks and investment firms which lie to their stockholders. EVERY corp has the legal right to keep 2 sets of books---one for the IRS the other for the investor. Guess which one shows losses and which one shows astounding gains!!!! = 3 BS awards, my friend.
