URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY NC

    236 PM EST MON FEB 23 2015

    ...LIGHT SNOW EXPECTED ACROSS A LARGE PORTION OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA TUESDAY...

    .THE SECOND IN A SERIES OF LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS TO AFFECT OUR AREA IS FORECAST TO TRACK SOUTHEAST OF THE REGION ON TUESDAY. EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA WILL BE ON THE NORTHERN PERIPHERY OF THE PRECIPITATION SHIELD WITH THIS SYSTEM WITH TEMPERATURES COLD ENOUGH FOR A PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW WHICH IS FORECAST TO DEVELOP TUESDAY MORNING AND END LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON. ACCUMULATIONS IN THE ADVISORY AREA OF AROUND AN INCH ARE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY EAST OF HIGHWAY 17.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 7 PM EST TUESDAY...

    THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MUCH OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA EAST OF HIGHWAY 17 FOR A PERIOD OF LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATING AROUND 1 INCH TUESDAY. THE ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 7 PM EST

    TUESDAY.

    * LOCATIONS...DUPLIN...ONSLOW...JONES...BEAUFORT...TYRELL...CRAVEN...PAMLICO...ONSLOW...CARTERET...DARE...AND HYDE COUNTIES.

    * TIMING...TUESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON.

    * HAZARD TYPES...PERIODS OF LIGHT SNOW.

    * ACCUMULATIONS...SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL RANGE FROM A DUSTING TO AN INCH OVER THE WESTERN PORTION OF THE ADVISORY AREA TO 1 INCH NEAR AND ALONG THE COAST. SOME LOCATIONS OVER THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE ADVISORY AREA COULD SEE UP TO 2 INCHES OF SNOWFALLL BY TUESDAY EVENING.

    * MAIN IMPACT...A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

    A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. NEVER USE A GENERATOR INDOORS. GAS GRILLS... GENERATORS... AND CAMP STOVES CREATE DEADLY CARBON MONOXIDE FUMES THAT WILL BUILD UP WHEN USED IN YOUR HOME.

    The snow is scheduled to begin possibly as rain or snow around 7:00am tomorrow morning and begin tapering off at 4:00pm and end by 9:00pm. This is a surprise snowfall and Beaufort County could see one inch in Washington by days end and two inches of accumulation in Aurora or vice-versa. As we get more information we will advise you. Getting to Work or School in the morning should not be a challenge, hopefully the getting home will not be. Spring is not here yet.

Latest Governing Beaufort County

North Carolina's Rate Bureau has requested for 2024 an annual increase of 42.2%, whereby North Carolina's Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has exhibited a great willingness to take a firm stand against such an exorbitant increase.
I reckon one could always argue that ignorance rests in the eyes of the beholder, but, I'm not taking that bet ... not in these Orwellian times, when so few of our fellow travelers know so little of what is real, and far too much of what otherwise might be terminally fake.
There were numerous local professional and educational opportunities showcased on Wednesday at the Beaufort County Job and Resource Fair.

The Beaufort County Board of Commissioners will hold a special called meeting with the Beaufort County Board of Education on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 3:30 PM at the Professional Development Center located at 845 Pierce St, Washington, NC.

This morning’s update included very minor changes to timing of today’s forecasted impacts.
This afternoon’s update from the National Weather Service (NWS) included another increase in the forecasted wind conditions for Beaufort County.
This morning’s update from the National Weather Service (NWS) included an elevated threat of severe weather, to include the possibility of tornados, as well as an increase in the forecasted wind conditions.
Our office is continuing to monitor an approaching cold front that is expected to bring high winds, elevated water levels, rain and the potential for severe storms to our area Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast details for Beaufort County can be found below.

Our office is currently monitoring the forecast of an approaching cold front that is expected to bring windy conditions, rain and the possibility of severe storms to eastern NC on Tuesday.
