Press Release:

RALEIGH      The most recent Civitas Poll was both accurate and thorough in calling the statewide primary results for both Democrat and Republican presidential primaries and other races, the head of the Raleigh think tank said today.

"While any poll is a snapshot in time, the March 15 election results are a resounding endorsement of Civitas Polling," Civitas President Francis De Luca said.

On the Democrat side for president, the poll was just 2.5 percentage points away from the total Hillary Clinton ending up garnering on Election Day. As the polling predicted, Bernie Sanders came in second. Furthermore, the Civitas Poll showed long-dropped-out candidate Martin O'Malley at 1 percent, and he ended up with 1 percent of the vote.

For Republicans, Civitas accurately predicted the order of finish: Donald

Trump, Ted Cruz, John Kasich and Marco Rubio. Although in the poll Kasich and Rubio finished in a tie percentage-wise, Kasich had more raw votes in the poll and therefore ranked third.

Our regular monthly polls continue throughout the year, providing vital information on what North Carolina voters are thinking.
