Colorado Weed Finds its Way to Beaufort County | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release

    On 04-29-2016, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Dustin Shane Upton, 35 years of age, of 1458 Ivy Street in Denver, Colorado and Dale Roger Upton, 64 years of age, of 220 Hudnell Street in Washington.

    Dustin Upton was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Manufacturing Schedule VI a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Dale Upton was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Maintaining a Dwelling to Use a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Their arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting surveillance on Dale Upton's residence after receiving information that Dustin Upton was bringing marijuana from Colorado to Washington NC. Investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that visited with Dustin Upton at 220 Hudnell Street in Washington. Investigators searched the vehicle and found a quantity of marijuana. After searching the vehicle Investigators responded to 220 Hudnell and conducted a search of the residence.

    Investigators searched the residence and found marijuana, marijuana wax from Colorado, marijuana oil from Colorado, marijuana edibles from Colorado, marijuana seeds from Colorado, a packaged marijuana cigarette from Colorado, multiple packages of marijuana from Colorado and items used to manufacture marijuana wax.

    Dustin Upton was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,500.00 secured bond. Dale Upton was released under a $500.00 unsecured bond.
