Born: February 18, 1941, Died: December 3, 2016

    Naomi Ruth Cox Boyd, age 95, a resident of Washington, NC, died Friday December 2, 2016 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation.

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday December 5, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be officiated by Dennis R. Davis. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

    Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on July 9, 1921 to the late William Benjamin Cox and Zadie Sheppard Cox. On December 24, 1937 she married Heber Jayhue Boyd. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Everett's Cross Roads Church of Christ and was an original charter member. She was a farmer's wife, she helped on the farm and she tended to her chickens. Mrs. Boyd taught Sunday School and was considered a second mother to many children.

    Survivors include her daughter, Brenda B. Woolard of Pinetown, four grandchildren, Mark E. Woolard and wife Nora, Jim H. Woolard and wife Anita, John Boyd "Pooh" Woolard and wife Hope all of Pinetown, Bobby J. Boyd, Jr. and wife Anita of Wilson, six great grandchildren, Evan Woolard, Erin Woolard and friend Robbie Mikel and his daughter Mackenzie, Georgia Woolard, Amelia Naomi Woolard, Jada Woolard, Kenan Woolard, three great great grandchildren, Caden Glancy, Brody Glancy, Wayne Thomas Glancy, a sister, Geraldine C. Scott and husband Tommy, and a sister-in-law, Marie Cox.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Heber J. Boyd, a son, Bobby Jayhue Boyd, a grandson, Zach Boyd, three brothers, Tyna Cox, Robert Cox, W.B. Cox, and four sisters, Elsie Mae Smith, Edith E. Jordan, Dorothy Eborn and Alma V. Tuten.

    The family will receive friends Sunday December 4, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of her grandson Mark Woolard, 574 Boyd Loop Rd., Pinetown, NC 27865.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Everett's Cross Roads Church of Christ, 48 South White Post Road, Pinetown, NC 27865 or to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, c/o General Fund, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
