Died: March 10, 2017

    J.C. Morgan, Jr., age 80, a resident of 1867 Bayview Road, Bath, died March 10 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington. A graveside service with military rites will be held March 13, 2:00 PM, at the Bayview Community Cemetery near the Bayview Community Church, 201 Clarendon Ave., Bath, NC 27808 with Dr. Danny Robertson and Dr. Boyd Stokes officiating. The family will receive guests at New Beginnings Fitness Center at 579 Breezy Shore Rd., Bath, after the service.

    J.C. was born to Hazel and Clarence Morgan on March 10, 1937, at Bayview. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Paul and Doris Woolard. He was married to Dolores Hayes from Belhaven in 1959, who survives and has two sons, Jay Morgan III and wife Robin; Randall Morgan and fiancée Mary Lawrence. He has two grandsons, Jay Morgan IV (wife Deanna) and Dustin Morgan. Also he has Amber Morgan, a granddaughter; two great grandchildren, Allison and Brantley Morgan; and extended family, Colleen Roughton, Ashlyn Morgan, Trace Adams, Kasey Carver, and Kody Carver. Also included are several nieces and nephews.

    He graduated from Bath High School in 1955, served his country in the Navy as a torpedoman, was a self-employed farmer, and was employed at Texasgulf Sulfur. After retirement, he especially enjoyed raising vegetables and catching seafood to give to neighbors and friends.

    Pallbearers will be Jay Morgan IV, Dustin Morgan, Larry Paul, Jonathan Brooks, Jerol Selby, Jr., and Eric Slade. Honorary pallbearers will be A.T. Venters, Jerol Selby, Sr., Thurston James, Earl Shavender, Ken Harris, John Holt, Bill Slade, Arthur Clayton, Sammy Robbins, Lynn Roper, Kenneth Ormond, Arthur Lowe, Rick Perry, Trevor Crawford, Pat Brown, Pearson Chrismon, Ronald Oliver, James Shively, Merritt Watson, and Dennis Barber.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bayview Community Church, PO Box 32, Bath, NC 27808, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
