TMc: Vintage Flags 03 | Eastern North Carolina Now

There was a time when the newspaper appeared once a week allowing 6 days for the journalist to research the facts and readers to study the previous edition. No photos from Iraq posted as Mexico, no crying talk show host, no insane actor painting pictures.

There was a time when the news was about US (the USA) printed with ink on paper using hard copy photographs; local information about folks within a 15 mile radius... Aunt B entertaining relatives from out of state and a preacher's rant about smoking or a technical mention of the police department installing newly invented car radios.

Actors and athletes did not write articles using punctuation and inductive and deductive reasoning. Foul language was censored. College activists had no cameras to record performances.

Times were not better. Gun fights, moonshine, labor riots, and other mayhem filled the pages but it was local and everybody knew your name.

Conclusion: I am in 'Media Overload' and need less and less TV News because I cannot wait until 6 pm. I need constant laptop updates about events totally out of my control. Face to face conversations are replaced with email and texts. Too late ... I cannot go back.
