Dority responds to Goldman's false claim of victory in MECKGOP Auditor straw poll | Eastern North Carolina Now

   Publisher's note: BCN publishes all information that we are sent, providing that it is not: pornographic in nature or blatantly false, with the possible exception of parody. The press release sent to us from Candidate Dority's camp, published in BCN on 022012, was obviously not pornographic, nor was it blatantly false, and running for office, in our Republic, is no barrel of laughs, and we unequivocally believe Candidate Dority was certainly not intending to elicit humor, so it certainly wasn't parody.

   Therefore, until proven otherwise, and NC Auditor Candidate Debra Goldman certainly is given that opportunity to do so, we will hold that press release of 022012 to be of an accurate nature, and therefore true.

    Both Greg Dority and Debra Goldman are claiming victory in the MECKGOP.

    Auditor straw poll held last week. Dority on his website dorityfornc.com and Goldman on her website/twitter feed debragoldmannc.com and http://twitter.com/#!/debragoldmannc.

    This is very disappointing because by definition one of them has to be lying. As a registered voter I need to know who is telling the truth. Who won the MECKGOP straw poll? Inquiring minds want to know.

    I responded after reviewing the links. My response was:

    "This is very disturbing. After reading the links provided to her website and twitter page Ms. Goldman states, 'I want to thank CLT and the meckgop for the strong win in their straw poll for State Auditor last night!' This simply is not true.

    "I was honored and humbled to win last week's MECKGOP Auditor straw poll. As Republicans we must always seek the moral high ground. The two things the State Auditor job requires are integrity and the ability to count simple numbers. Sadly, it appears Ms. Goldman lacks both."

    I do hope you will join me as I seek to bring honesty, integrity and accountability to the Auditor's Office. I see the job as primarily management driven and a question of leadership versus the holding of obtuse technocrat skills and accounting degrees. It takes courage to investigate and my years in the field overseas have given me that requisite skill set to uncover the facts for the citizens of North Carolina. In this period of economic decline it is vital for our citizens to have someone ensuring their resources are being protected and government is operated in the utmost efficient way. Government must operate in the same manner as our businesses and households. Anything less is unacceptable.
