    Mrs. Virginia Dare Dixon Taylor, age 88, died Monday evening, May 6, 2019 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Willie Summerlin and Walter Summerlin. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service on Thursday at Paul Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Taylor was born in Beaufort County on August 18, 1930, daughter of the late Madison Monroe Dixon and Annie Melissa Edwards Dixon. Growing up, she worked on a farm, and later worked at several retail businesses in the area and as caretaker for family members. She was owner/operator of the Tasty Freeze in Chocowinity and the Yellow Cab Company. She retired with 22 years' service as nutrition site manager for Beaufort County. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Wanoca Presbyterian Church. She was a true homemaker in that she loved to cook, sew, was a master gardener and feeding hummingbirds.

    Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children: Travis Boyd (Linda) of Washington, Diana Baker (Ronnie) of Washington, Ann Morris (David) of Bath, Barbara Cox of Washington, Teresa McRoy of Washington, Keith Taylor of Greensboro and Joey Taylor (Cathy) of Washington; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and her sister: Edna Ruth Summerlin of Washington. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three husbands: Earl J. Boyd, James Robert Anderson, and Joseph E. Taylor; her brother: Warren Franklin Dixon; her sisters: Lily Kathleen Oakley and Nellie Pearl Kilby and her granddaughter: Hollie Grace Taylor.

    Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Wanoca Presbyterian Church, 921 E. 6th Street, Washington, NC 27889.
