    Mr. William Metrue Daniels, Jr., age 86, a resident of 311 Old Pamlico Beach Road West, Belhaven, died Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

    Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Pamlico Beach Community Cemetery at Ryder Hill. Pallbearers will be D.J. Keech, Christopher Daniels, Randall Moore, Robert Fulford, Willie G. Roberson II and Jimmy Foreman. Honorary pallbearer will be Christopher Hudnell, Jr.

    Mr. Daniels was born in Beaufort County on February 12, 1933. He was the son of the late William Metrue Daniels and Loraina Williams Daniels. Mr. Daniels served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On June 25, 1955 he married the former Theresa Fernand Lemay who survives. He was owner and operator of Pamlico Beach Grocery and Marina for many years. Mr. Daniels also worked as an automotive mechanic and later retired as an engineer on the Bayview Ferry. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed working on the water, building boats and fishing.

    Surviving with his wife Theresa of the home are two daughters, Margie Keech and husband, Donnie of Pamlico Beach, Sheila Moore and husband, John Caldwell of Spartanburg, S.C.; six grandchildren, Angela Keech Hudnell, Susan Danielle Keech, Donald "D.J." Keech, Jr., Randall Moore, Christopher Daniels, Elizabeth Daniels; five great grandchildren, Faith Hudnell, Christopher Hudnell, Jr. Bryce Keech, Braelynn Keech and Jessica Tetterton; four sisters, Wanda Roberson and husband, Willie G. Roberson, Carolyn Creech and husband, Bill, Sandra Quidley, Catherine Fulford; and one brother, Roger Daniels.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Daniels was predeceased by two sons, William Metrue "Billy" Daniels III and Gary Russell Daniels; two brothers and three sisters.

    The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven.
