A Revolutionary Opportunity | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Not every generation gets a chance to participate in anything politically revolutionary. We hear about technology, communications, transportation and other non political revolutions almost every day. To be sure, if you are even twenty years old, you have participated in revolutionary change in technology. Those of us who are over sixty have definitely seen the world change and have been fortunate to have seen the world change at the most rapid rate in the history of mankind. Many of the generations who came before use lived their entire lives without seeing any change in technology, thought, or politics. That would have bored us to death to say nothing of how it would have warped our cell phone addicted children.

    It is because political revolutions usually come on the horns of war, riots, and other forms of violence that they happen so infrequently. At the very heart of our democratic-republican form of government lies the seed of political revolution. The use of the principles of non violent revolution laid down in the Constitution and Bill of Rights are legal and encouraged. Still people are reluctant ask for dramatic change without having been subject to heavy handed oppression for long periods of time.

    We, in eastern North Carolina, are in the final phase of throwing off the yoke of single party rule. For more than one hundred years we have had to accept the hand picked candidates of a single party. During the past 40 years the political excesses of that single party have brought it to ruin. Among those excesses are a creep toward American Socialisim. This welfare system takes care of everyone, from the cradle to the grave, provides grant moneys, and a poor quality of all the services provided by government. It encourages people to vote for government benefits for themselves.

    The Democrat vacuum created when Senator Basnight, and his cronies left office, is being filled by Republicans. Those Republicans are trying to rule the same way as the Democrats. That is by hand picking, endorsing and ultimately funding our North Carolina Representatives and Senators. This means total control of our legislature by a few power brokers in Raleigh. Once the blessed are elected the power of incumbency takes hold and it becomes very difficult to get truly independently thinking representatives of the people elected.

    This is where you, the voter, become the political revolutionary. There is evidence Raleigh power brokers in the Republican party have hand picked the former Democrat, Arthur Williams, to run for the 6th District seat. Williams has publicly vowed loyalty to liberal Democrat Senator Marc Basnight, and convicted felon Speaker of the House Jim Black. A few months before time to run for the House, Williams changed to Republican and tendered that he was thinking about running for the Senate. He quickly realized he would be running against conservative Republican Bill Cook, a siting member of the House, and decided to run against Tea Party Activist, Republican Mattie Lawson. Lawson has been a Republican more than 35 years.

    Become a Republican or Unaffiliated Revolutionary and cast your vote for Mattie Lawson. This will help clean up eastern North Carolina politics. We need independent thinkers in Raleigh who owe nothing to the power brokers. Corruption flourishes when Raleigh leaders can collect money form special interests and then tell our elected representatives how to vote. That is how so much special interest legislation gets passed. Defeating Williams will help correct the last 50 years of party boss politics in eastern North Carolina and set the example for the rest of the State.

    Now is the time to remember all those promises you made to yourself about the desire to have a principled candidate who understands the need for small government and self reliance. Help end Socialisim. Vote for Mattie Lawson for House District 6. This could be as close as you will ever get to those dreams of being a member of the "Resistance", battling the bad guys in the streets of Paris, Warsaw, Lisbon or even at Bunker Hill.

    Early voting begins on June 28 with the runoff election day being Tuesday July 17, 2012. You are eligible to vote on the Republican ticket if you are a registered Republican whether you voted in the primary election or not. Unaffiliated voters who voted in the Republican primary may also vote. Unaffiliated voters who did not vote at all in the primary may vote the Republican ticket. Unaffiliated voters who voted Democrat in the primary can only vote in the Democrat runoff. This will be a low turn out election, so your vote is very valuable. It could be equivalent to as many as 10 votes in the primary because so few will be voting.
